Active Eye Digital Light Meter

A plant uses the energy that light gives off to photosynthesise. Photosynthesis is the process where by a plant converts carbon dioxide and water into sugar which is used for growth. The green pigment in a plant is called chlorophyll. This is what the plant uses to collect the light energy. It absorbs red and blue light spectrum but reflects the green light spectrum which is why a plant will look green.

In an indoor grow room we have to substitute the light given off by the sun for a bulb powered by electricity. An indoor gardener will need to consider the amount of light that is given to his / her plants and may wish to measure that light intensity by using a light meter to ensure that all areas of the grow room are receiving the right amount of light.

Light meters give readings measured in lux. One lux is the light given off by one candle at one metre away spread over one metre squared. Direct sunlight is approx 32,000 to 100,000 lux. The plants you are growing will dictate how much light is required as different plants prefer different growing conditions

The Active Eye Digital Light Meter is perfect for measuring the light intensity in your room. The sensor is stable and has been built so that even if you are not holding it perpendicular to the light source it will still measure the light correctly.

This light meter accurately measures to 432,000 lux in one of 3 scales for precise readings.
