CO2 - The simple way to maximise yields and grow healthy, strong plants.
Co2 or Carbon Dioxide is what we expel when we breathe and it is what plants use to photosynthesise.(Not to be confused with carbon monoxide which is deadly!)
Levels of Co2 are measured in PPM (Parts Per Million). Ambient Co2 levels in the air are typically between 300 and 400PPM. If Co2 levels in your grow room drop below 200PPM your plants will stop growing. On the flip side, by adding extra Co2 into the grow space plant growth will be accelerated meaning stronger healthier plants and bigger yields. Growers have observed up to a 100% increase in plant growth speed when Co2 levels are increased to 1500PPM.
Increased Co2 levels will also benefit the roots of a plant. Roots become longer, thicker and faster growing when exposed to increased levels of Co2.
Maintaining higher levels of Co2 in a grow room will also help the plants to cope with an temperature stress they may encounter. This is especially important during hot summer months when some growers struggle to keep temperatures down.
